Campaign types
Learn about the six campaign types that Launch Oracle supports: lead generation, form, poll, quiz, A/B test, and reservation.
A campaign is a single initiative tied to a property, and you can run several at once for the same property. Launch Oracle supports six campaign types, each with different capture and reporting capabilities and features. Choosing the closest fit to your goal up front saves you from having to rebuild later.
Type | What it's for | Use it to |
|---|---|---|
Lead Generation | Capture leads and build an email list. The most common campaign type because an email list is the actual asset a successful launch is built on. A simple sign-up: a visitor lands on your page, enters their email, and you've captured a way to reach them again. Use this when you want to start building a list of people who are interested in your launch. |
|
Form | Collect more than an email—answers to custom questions you design yourself, photos, file uploads, whatever you need. It's the campaign type built for whenever a simple sign-up isn't enough. |
|
Poll | Ask your audience a direct question and use their answer to make a real decision. Where the other types of campaigns are about capturing an audience, polls are about consulting the one you already have. |
|
Quiz | A fun, shareable personality-quiz-style experience tied to your game's world or IP. It's built to generate its own traffic. People share their result, pulling in visitors who found you organically instead of through ad spend. |
|
A/B Test | Create and show two real versions of your page to live traffic with an even 50/50 split and let the data tell you which one performs better. Use it once you already have two genuine candidates and just need data to inform your decision. |
|
Reservation | Works like a lead generation campaign, but with a small deposit attached, filtering your list down to people who are genuinely committed, not just curious. |

How to choose the right campaign type
Every campaign type answers a different question or need, so the fastest way to choose is to figure out what question you're actually asking or which outcome you're seeking:
"I want to build an email list." Start with lead generation. This will be the default starting point for most campaigns.
"I need more than an email address." Use a form. This is the right call whenever you need something a simple sign-up can't capture or want to connect in-person events with your digital lead capture.
"What does my audience actually think?" Run a poll. This is direct feedback gathering. You're asking your audience a question and using their answer to shape your launch strategy, not just collecting contact info.
"I want to engage my audience and increase my traffic organically." Build a quiz. Quizzes function as growth tools. A "which faction are you?" style quiz built around your game's IP gets shared because people want to post their result, and every share brings a new visitor to your page who didn't come from your ad spend.
"Which version actually converts better?" Run an A/B test. Use this when you have two real candidates—two pieces of box art, two headlines, two value propositions—and want data to inform your launch strategy.
"I want people who are committed, not just curious." Run a reservation campaign. A small deposit filters out casual sign-ups and gives you a warmer, more committed list heading into your launch or crowdfunding campaign.
It's common to run more than one type of campaign under the same property over the life of a launch—a lead generation campaign early to build your email list and capture leads, an A/B test midway to decide box cover art, and a quiz to keep your audience warm and engaged and increase your reach organically.
